Effective waste management is the way to preserve the true essence of the environment.
Mismanaged trash poses serious risks to life and the ecological balance. Poor waste management policies and practices deteriorate the ecosystem and produce toxic gas emissions and mountains of waste at the dumping sites.
The worst effects include environmental pollution, global warming, decrease in biodiversity, and loss of habitats for marine and wildlife. According to Statista, India has generated over 110 million metric tonnes of Municipal Solid Wastes as of 2021.
The Problem
Also, above 80% of the total waste generated by South Asia and above 13% of the total waste generated by the World every year, is contributed by India. It is shocking to realize that about 14,613.3 metric tonnes of waste are generated by West Bengal per day, and a huge part is contributed by Kolkata.
The Solution
Recognizing the requirement of proper waste management, Shivam Swachh Soch is engaged in the collection of agricultural waste from the farmers and industries, processing and converting them to biomass briquettes.
Biomass fuel is the best renewable energy source and a carbon-neutral product of organic matter. It doesn’t contribute to any pollution and has zero-dangerous impacts on the ecosystem. Hence, we engage in converting the organic, commercial, and city garden waste into biomass fuel that can be used by SMEs in their industrial furnaces.
The Conclusion
Till 31st March 2021, We have been successful in saving 15,681 tonnes of CO2 emissions with the production of 13,161 MT of Biomass briquette, focusing on a cleaner and hygienic environment.
With 401 collection centers in West Bengal and 30,461 metric tonnes of waste processed, we are committed to involve in the value extraction of the organic wastes and create a sustainable ecosystem.
